Working Hard, or Hardly Working?

Chairman Address

Brigadier General Tan Chuan Jin – Executive Committee Chairman – has been observing the progress of rehearsals every week, checking up on the performers and making sure they’re having a good time.

Addressing them with Lieutenant Colonel Desmond Tan – Show Chairman (in red) – he rallied a group together to commend and encourage their patriotic efforts!

PA

The People’s Association has a fairly dramatic dance segment. With multiple groups and styles pulling off differing dance moves, I’m definitely a big fan!

Peranakans

Nonyas and Babas alike, The Main Wayang Company was at the rehearsal as usual. Though the range of ages is very large, all of them know how to have fun!

The Peranakan group, choreographed by Jacqueline Pereira (left in red) is an exuberant group that dances alongside the PA, Dikir Barat, and Bhaskars groups during the parade. A central focus this year will certainly have to be the adorable Simone Tan (in the ‘unpixelated’ camouflage), who’s a mere four years old!

ITE Dancers

The Institute of Technical Education has very photogenic students. Highly aware of the cameras around them, they can’t stop posing for the photographers on scene.

So long as one person is being lined up, his or her best friend has to join in too. Of course, it never stops there, and within seconds, half the performing group will be huddled together – getting their vogue on!

It’s a photographer’s nightmare trying to fit everyone in one frame, but it’s fantastic to see everyone living it up!

Martial House

Martial House can be seen here with their various ‘weapons’, rehearsing for their respective segments. There will be a lot of quick action that is sure to be enjoyed!

Talented youths and National Servicemen team up in this group to produce something that can only be described as – Fierce!

SOKA

The SOKA Association has a very large number of ladies performing this year. Despite this, however, during rehearsals, their group is usually one of the most synchronized.

Leading the all female troupe, are the instructors and their newly received props. No, the foil ones on the right are not going to be used – there is much more in store for the audience!
