Welcome to National Day Parade 2008

PREVIEW AND NATIONAL DAY PARADE 2008 TICKET ADVISORY

1. Congratulations on being successful in the Preview/ NDP 08 tickets ballot. As traffic in the bay area is expected to be congested on show days, please take 5 minutes to read through this traffic advisory to enhance your participation in the parade.

2. Please be reminded that these ticket are given free-of-charge for those who wish to participate in the National Day celebrations at the Marina Bay Floating Platform. They are strictly NOT FOR SALE.

3. Each ticket admits only ONE person, REGARDLESS OF HIS OR HER AGE. Even if carried in the arms of an adult, each child must have his or her own ticket.

4. You can only enter the coloured area that matches your ticket. Seating will be allocated upon your arrival at the Seating Gallery of the Marina Bay Floating Platform. You are requested to follow the instructions of our ushers with regards to seating.

5. As traffic in the Marina Bay area is expected to be congested on show days, you are strongly encouraged to make use of Public Transport to arrive at the Marina Bay Floating Platform.

6. Please note that for the safety of participants and to facilitate traffic arrangements for the event, Raffles Avenue, Republic Boulevard (Carriage way towards Esplanade), and Temasek Avenue will be closed to all motorists during the Preview and NDP Show (See attached map).

7. There are only 2 points of entry into the Seating Gallery (See diagram on ticket).

a. Entry Point 1: Across Nicoll Highway, after the Stamford Rd/ Nicoll Highway junction, besides One Raffles Link
b. Entry Point 2: Stairway beside the Marina Square Open Foyer, directly opposite the Esplanade theatres.

8. You will not be able to enter via the pedestrian pavement beside the Esplanade Theatres, the Mandarin Oriental Singapore or the Ritz Carlton Hotel. Our Ushers will direct you to the closest point of entry.

9. Entry to the Seating Gallery will commence from 2.45 pm onwards. To avoid missing the pre-parade segment of the show, we recommended that you arrive before 4.45 pm.

10. Hand-carried bags will be subjected to security checks. You are strongly discouraged from bringing big bags into the Seating Gallery. For the safety of fellow spectators, the following items are prohibited: Explosives, munitions, fireworks and flares; compressed gases; oxidizing substances, such as bleaching powders; flammable liquids and solids; disabling devices such as pepper spray; poison; radioactive materials; corrosive materials; and any other materials which may present a danger to others.

11. Please be reminded that this is a smoke-free event.

GETTING TO THE MARINA FLOATING PLATFORM

This information will help you plan your journey to and from the Marina Floating Platform. We would like you to enjoy your day and recommend that you plan your journey in advance.

The Marina Floating Platform is easily accessible by public transport. Trains and buses to all parts of Singapore are available to enable parade spectators to travel to and from the Platform smoothly and safely on show days.

As traffic is expected to be congested on show days, members of the public attending this event are advised to make use of public transport.

ARRIVING BY TRAIN

The Stadium is served by two stations:

RAFFLES PLACE MRT INTERCHANGE (North South/ East West Line)

Follow the pedestrian route along battery road, crossing Cavenagh Bridge, pass the scenic Queen Elizabeth Pass, crossing Esplanade Drive to reach the platform. Allow for a ten minute walk.

As CITY HALL MRT is expected to be congested, Spectators are strongly encouraged to go to RAFFLES MRT INTERCHANGE at the end of the show.

CITY HALL MRT INTERCHANGE (North South/ East West Line)

The nearest MRT Station is City Hall. You can take a 10 minutes’ walk along Stamford Road, crossing Nicoll Highway to reach the first ticketing point. Alternatively, you can take a 10 minutes’ walk via the underground City Link Mall, exiting at One Raffles link to reach the second ticketing point.

Please note that entrances to the City Link underpass will be closed after the parade.

TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE MARINA BAY SINGAPORE COUNTDOWN 08

The public is advised to take note of the following traffic arrangements for National Day Parade 08. For the safety of participants and to facilitate traffic arrangements for the event, the following roads will be closed to all motorists:

Motorists are advised to avoid the affected roads and to slow down should they need to travel along these roads or pass by the affected junctions. Officers will be stationed at all affected road junctions to regulate traffic and assist motorists as well as to facilitate the movement of pedestrians.

Please note that parking at peripheral roads around Esplanade, Marina Bay vicinity; along the ECP (Benjamin Sheares Bridge) and Marina South to watch the fireworks display is strictly prohibited. Illegally parked vehicles will be fined and towed away.
