NDP 09 STAGE SET DESIGN

The theme for this year’s NDP is “Come Together – Reaching Out. Reaching Up” In this vein, the stage is designed to “reach out” by closing the distance between the performers and the spectators, so as to bring the parade and performance closer to the crowd at the seating gallery.

The main stage is elevated four-metres above the floating platform and together with the promenade, is transformed into a large and seamless performing area. This year’s stage set design also encompasses a theatrical feel with its panorama format of two flanking six-storey performance grids and an emblematic “eye” spanning the entire length of the platform stage.

Each grid is equipped with three scene-changing screens. Performers can switch from scene to scene with a simple pull of the blinds. The “eye” between the grids is a high resolution LED screen that projects images in tandem with the performances.

The dynamic backdrop will complement the Show with its use of its alluring and colourful props.
