Every 9th of August, our beautiful Garden City celebrates its independence with a National Day Parade. This much awaited and island wide celebration has a party attendance sought after by many. This year’s theme the Singapore Spirit is an apt one because it encapsulates our National Day very well.

Celebrating the Singapore Spirit at NDP 2011

Tomorrow is Singapore’s National Day but I’m not in Singapore. So, I will have to commemorate by looking at the photos I took during a National Day Parade rehearsal.

It was such a great experience it made me wish I could attend the actual parade (happening tomorrow) but, of course, I can’t because I’m not in Singapore.

Unboxing the National Day Parade 2011 Fun Pack

Besides exciting performances and beautiful fireworks, attendees of the annual National Day Parade also look forward to the highly sought-after National Day Parade Fun Pack. This year’s Fun Pack had generated quite a controversy, though not about its content but more due to a song about it. Well, enough said about the song and glad that it is officially pulled from the programme.

Protecting the Singapore Spirit!

After experiencing the preview and the actual national day, seeing how many people looking at us with smile, makes everything somehow worth it! And I also did help out alittle in this year’s NDP before I ORD, but this time for the safety team!

I now really appreciate more when I watch the whole NDP show as I can totally understand what they have been through, all the training and hard work, not forgetting burning their weekends just to make a good show for our nation birthday!

Step Up for Singapore! Dance Flash Mob at Ion Orchard

As part of the National Day Parade (NDP) 2011 Step Up Singapore! Dance campaign, a flash mob was held at Ion Orchard Basement 4 on Sunday (1o July 2011). Comprising mostly volunteers, the mob performed to a number of National Day songs we typically hear around this period e.g. Home by Kit Chan, Stand Up for Singapore.

PM Lee was speaking at the annual National Day Rally 2010 in the University Cultural Centre at the National University of Singapore, where he also explained that the Singapore Spirit is anchored on “deeper things which Singaporeans share” – shared values such as multiracialism, meritocracy and respect for every talent.
