Creations, Creativity and the Creative Team

You may not see them in action on the NDP 2008 stage. Yet, what you see come the 9th of August is no doubt a realisation of weeks and months of hard work on their part. In the Show segment of NDP 2008, they balance coordination and creativity. Indeed, the many acts and scenes are creations of theirs that come through to us as the Spirit of Singapore. They are the Creative Team of NDP 2008.

Be it the music, costumes, lighting, or directing of everything as a whole, they are without doubt an integral part of the Show segment. Breathing life into a diverse cast of performers coming from a wide range of organisations, the Show segment of NDP 2008 is their stage.

Goh Boon Teck (Creative Director)
Mr. Goh Boon Teck is a professional theatre director, playwright and production designer and the Chief Artistic Director of Toy Factory Productions Limited.

He was most recently involved as the director for the musical, 'Shanghai Blues'. Mr. Goh was also the Creative Director for NDP 07, the first on the Marina Bay Floating Platform.

 

Ismail Iskandar (Music Director)
A prolific and talented composer-director, Iskandar has directed, composed and arranged for numerous world-class musicals made up of Stars like Dick Lee, Jimmy Ye, Andy Lau and Aaron Kwok.

He graduated from the Berkley College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts and received the SPH Achiever of the Year Award in 2003 for his contribution to the Arts in Singapore.

 

Frederick Lee (Costume Director)
Frederick Lee is renowned for creating costumes of ultimate extravagance. His designs are often showcased during events representing Singaopre. He has been in the fashion industry for 13 years and was named 'Designer of the Year' at the Singapore Fashion Awards 2004. He is the principle costume designer for NDP 2008, aiming to bring out the 'Singapore Spirit' through the colourful costumes of the participants.

 

Philip Tan (Music Composer)
Philip Tan, a critically acclaimed musician, composer, performer, educator, music-consultant, has been dedicated to his craft for the last decade.

His collaborations with film and art-installation are showcased internationally in film festivals and biennales. In 2003 and 2005, Philip received the Life! Theatre's Best Sound Award for his contribution to theatre music composition. He is currently the Composer-in residence of the Singapore Wind Symphony Percussion Ensemble.

 

Benny Wong (Theme Song Composer)
Benny Wong is a musician, singer and composer since 1990. He has composed and arranged most of the theme and sub-theme songs for Channel 8 chinese dramas as well as theme songs for Channel 5 since 1999, In 2005, he won the 'Best Song of the Year' for chinese drama songs. Presently, Benny Wong is working on the music scoring for Jack Neo's 'Money not Enough 2' movie.

 

Nick Eltis (Technical Director)
Nick is a technical director specializing in sound and lightings for major events. He has been involved in events such as the Athens 2004 Olympics Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Commonwealth Games (2006) and the Rugby World Cup (2003).


Scott Willsallen (Audio Designer)
Scott Willsallen holds a Masters in Design Science (Audio Design) with honors from Sydney University, and has been involved in sound design for numerous large-scale spectator events. these include the Athens Olympics 2004, the Melbourne Commonwealth Games 2006 and Doha Asian Games 2006.

 

Paul Collison (Lighting Director)
Paul Collison has been designing lightings for events all over the world. He has organised and designed the stage lightings for world-famous events such as the "18th ArabianGulf Cup", "The Rock Eisteddfod Challenge", "Commonwealth Games Melbourne 2008 Opening & Closing Ceremonies", "Gladiators 2008 - Seven Network", Colour Your World 2008 - Hillsongs" and many other slide shows.
